DUTCH NEWS NIS NEWS BULLETIN Al Qaeda has given orders for the assassination of Geert Wilders. A Fatwa against a Member of the Dutch Parliament, a sovereign government, just not a Muslim. It is an extraordinary bit of hubris.

Vancouver and the Third Bridge
In the Sunday edition of the Columbian Newspaper, the editorial board took issue with the notion of a thrid bridge, an idea that was never seriously considered by the transportation "authorities" or CREDC. Stating the bridge issue was passe' on the basis of a rigged and IMO fairly useless poll conducted two years ago, the Columbian editors have supported the dictatorial choices we have so graciously been the oh so lucky recipient. HOGwash. It is evident the current proponents of the rebuilt I-5 Bridge, including the mayor of this once fine town, are not LISTENING, again.
What it is they are not hearing
STOP TRAFFIC CONGESTION
It is time for a third bridge NOW!!!
Congestion is the region's number ONE issue
Congestion costs us hundreds of millions of dollars a year.
We have fewer bridges than most river cities of similar size in the US.
this section of the I=5 Corridor has been under continuous study since 1977- it is time for a third Bridge.
A recent survey of regional residents shows that:
27 % want lanes added, 27% want wider roads and 27% want to eliminate bottlenecks
An Additional 24 % want another bridge added
Only 7% want the current bridge replace or widened
Only 6% want LIGHT RAIL.
So what is not to hear?

FREEDOM
Watching the reports coming in, listening to the speeches camouflaged as questions, questions camouflaged as campaign rhetoric, and all of it creating the effect intended. Camouflage is used to confuse the eye, masking the danger ahead and creating a false recognition. It is understandable that our leaders would caution against such a false notion.
All the world’s a stage
For a group of men, used to daily negotiation through the landmines of Shi’ah, Sunni and Kurdish conflicting within and without of a Government not yet ready for prime time, negotiating through the Halls of Congress ought to have been no big deal. Except dealing with US House members and staff and US Senators and staff is closest to keeping a stable of Hollywood starlets happy, than any other occupational hazard on the planet. All of them want to be told they are the best, the prettiest and the nation’s favorite. None can be ignored unless it is a certain and calculated risk (in which case nothing is for certain), and not one can be compared with another in the constant competition for TV face time and radio sound bytes. It is less a sad statement about our federal government then a reality check for the voters, for the citizens of the nation watch and listen and notice the flawed and false fronts put to ideas and attached to actions.
I’ll bet every one of the congressmen and senators and every one of their staffers can cry on cue. As can the reporters reporting, analysts anal-eye-sing and faces reading the news. From all of this we hope to find some sliver we can call truth, and apply some sense to this truth to uncover the right mix of applied policy to in a quest to provide a foundation for lasting peace in the Middle East. A foundation made necessary by the kinds of thinking and acts that made the attacks of 9/11/2001 not only possible but even thinkable.
Deceiver, thy name is Democrat.
I am not splitting ideological hairs here, there is enough “now-I said-this, now I didn’t” coming from all sides of the debate that no one is beyond reproach. But what is so despicable to this citizen is the total politicization of a process meant to be beyond politics, and the insinuation that the men reporting factually are to blame for it being made so political. Whoa, how did that work again? Please, tell us Move on dot, and yes, Senator Clinton and you too Senators Obama and Biden, how it is the General made it all so political.
How does the General and how does the Ambassador deserve to be the targets of attacks that lack substance, unwarranted abuse, and slanderous commentary. How is it that the public airwaves are pumped full of distortions about testimony given under oath, before the oath is administered. How is it that a man given the confidence of a nearly unanimous vote nine months ago, can be so vilified for doing the job he was entrusted by you to do.
I’ve got friends in Low Places
Senator Kerry, Did you really expect him to fail? Senator Biden, Why does it surprise you that he is succeeding in his mission? Senator Clinton, is your suspension of disbelief required because the citizens of Iraq are choosing a representative government over socialism as well as over two flavors of totalitarian repression? Do you find it difficult to believe that they do not trust us after the first gulf war? Or after the disgraceful conduct of our Congress during the messy exit from Viet Nam? Oh, that is correct, Senator Biden, we had withdrawn funds from the Republic of Vietnam after our troops had been out of the front lines for two years. You are right there is a difference.
The people of Iraq are not split along an imaginary fault line, and yes, they are one nation. However half the people of Iraq are not determined to run off and unwelcome intruder, the majority have requested a long term relationship. The People of Iraq have made a decision at the voting booth, and with their feet and now with their lives, they do want democracy and they want our help. That is the message from Iraqi’s in Iraq right now, and that was the message in 2003 and the message sent at the polls in in 2004, and in 2005 and even by the refugees in 2006.
No Quagmire in sight
Iraq is not Viet Nam. In Iraq there is a steady surge of support for the Central Government, and a steadily growing recognition that only an idiot really wants to be ruled either by Al Q or the Iranian revolutionary theocracy. The recognition that the Central Government is addressing the problems and fixing the troubles with the Interior Ministry, the Ministry of Justice and that interested parties are addressing power sharing and oil revenue sharing arrangements is due to the security provided by the so called surge. There is a process by which the commoners are recognizing that they are responsible for the outcome.
It is that recognition that will allow the citizens of Iraq the ability to overcome the odds, events and forces determined to see them fail. It is that sense of responsibility that is the cause of the An Bar Tribal Awakening; it is the call of freedom Iraqi’s in Basra taste. Iraqi’s are acknowledging that they are responsible for their future, and with that recognition they are taking the steps necessary to have their republic grow. It is not and never was a top down sort of thing. Having been born into a ready made society elected into an already functioning democratic form of governance, we tend to forget that our nation was born from the bottom up, over years of struggle trying to get it right.
The people of Iraq are asking our help in their struggle to be free. How will you answer that call?

So the battle for the hearts and minds of America begins.
A Gathering of Eagles, Veterans of Wars Past, and some of the current conflict, called to serve in a way unforeseen, unforgotten insults like unforgotten screams, call them and despite the chill, the ill will of an unrepentant few, they answered the call.
30,000 strong, THIRTY THOUSAND stood watch over the Monuments, Memorial tribute to those who fell, those whose struggle will not be in vane. Since 1975 these men and women have allowed the antiwar anti American driven spirit to disrespect their accomplishments, disavow their service and dishonor them, with little response. They have done their job, they have held their tongues in check, held their heads high ever since they disembarked from over there, to the chants to which they could not respond, to the discourtesy of not even a "thank you".
It is ironic, that the threat that roused their spirit was not one of disrespecting them personally, not even one of overthrowing the government, but the threat that someone would take a can of spray paint and disrespect those who had paid the ultimate sacrifice. Some welcome home, huh?
I write in anger at those who could even think such vandalism was a matter of "free speech". I write in shame that fellow Americans would allow such a mockery of justice and maiming of democratic spirit to continue so long. I write in disgust, that those who have a history of such behavior, are allowed and encouraged by responsible citizens to continue unchecked, over reported, and given more than their due.
These anti-war antics DO NOT SPEAK for me,
Speaker Pelosi, DO NOT SPEAK for me,
Congressman Murtha, DO NOT SPEAK for me,
Senators Kerry, Edwards and Kennedy,. DO NOT SPEAK for me,
Senator Biden and Senator Murray, DO NOT SPEAK for me.
Let these, most honorable men, do the talking.

It is their turn, and it is time we listened.

With you in spirit-A Gathering of Eagles
There are two petitions now up online. One for people to sign only if they WILL be at the Gathering of Eagles on March 17th:
http://www.PetitionOnline.com/GOE31707/petition.html
The second petition is for those who will be with us in spirit:
http://www.PetitionOnline.com/GOE317/petition.html
This will be very helpful in giving us some idea of how many Eagles will be in attendance on the 17th and how many will be supporting us from home.
If you plan to be there, sign in. Those who just can’t attend but stand with us in spirit are asked to sign the second petition.
To those who fight, you are not alone, not on our watch.
Letter to the Editor in opposition to SJM 8003
To the editor,
I oppose most vigorously the No escalation in Iraq Memorial, SJM 8003,
Anything other than full support of the mission gets troops killed.
The Intended effect of “protecting the troops” is contrary to an honest projection of the end result.
The “facts” mentioned in SJR 8003 are incomplete and inaccurate.
1. Our government is committed to deploy the troops needed.
2. The Legislature does not have greater competence than the leaders vested with authority the Legislature pretends to.
3. Opinion Polls can not dictate national policy.
4. To blame the actions of murderers and oppressors on the efforts of those who attempt to liberate and protect the victims is strange policy indeed.
5. Iraq is not an island, and its people are not incapable of responsible governance.
6. The price tag put on Defense, is 3.8% of GDP.
No one, least of all a state legislature should endorse such bald faced intellectual deceit.
I sincerely doubt that the impositions of debt on this state’s government can compare to the amount of treasure required or the numbers killed and wounded, if we do not find enough intellectual honesty to support a free, stable and prosperous Iraq.
Thank You
Letter to the Editor in opposition to SJM 8016
Senate Joint Memorial 8016 alleges two notions for seeking a hearing of impeachment. One, a Summary Statement not supported by the majority report, about the nature of the intelligence. The other, an allegation of executive breach of authority, blatantly disregards the mountains of documentation, the sum total of which does not support the allegation.
Relying on the statement, that intelligence was the “cornerstone” for the case to topple Saddam Hussein, ignores completely the stated intent of the US Congress. In December 1991, Congress expressed its sense that it "supports the use of all necessary means to achieve the goals of United Nations Security Council Resolution 687 as being consistent with the Authorization of Use of Military Force Against Iraq Resolution (Public Law 102-1)," that Iraq's repression of its civilian population violates United Nations Security Council Resolution 688 and "constitutes a continuing threat to the peace, security, and stability of the Persian Gulf region," and that Congress, "supports the use of all necessary means to achieve the goals of United Nations Security Council Resolution 688".
I know why we went to war with Iraq, why we’ve determined to free Iraq from the legacy of Saddam and the world from the scourge of terror
